Muthoni Gitau

I reside in the mercies of the Most high!

Hye there, my name is Muthoni Gitau, and I am a wife and mother of two. My love and zeal for life is infectious. I enjoy having a down-to-earth, honest conversation, love everything in nature, and I call myself a global traveler. I have enjoy having deep and supportive relationship with others.

My God remain my closest friend and confidants. My daily conversation with my creator are intense and personal. Him and I share a lot and I love talking to Him about and in everything I do. On many occasions in my life, I have experienced spiritual breakthrough on matter I had conversation with my God. I love my God and He love me so much! JOHN 15:9

It is my firm conviction that every human being deserves to feel loved, to belong a community of like minded people, be cherished and, above all, to live and grow old in a life without pain.

I often reminisce about my childhood with a broad recollection of my late mother sending me to visit those vulnerable in my community. Those visits often exposed me to various aspects of human suffering, which forged a desire to care for others. Caring for others has shaped my core being and I has supported many aged persons and those living with a disability. Migrating from Kenya to Australia in the late 90s, I am a Registered Nurse. I hold a Bachelor of Nursing, a diploma in Marketing, and a certificate in Aged Care Management and Dementia. I am currently undertaking a master’s study in Dementia. My work in supporting and caring for those living and experiencing symptoms of dementia spans over 23 years of a career in community and residential aged care services before becoming a contractor as a Dementia behavioral specialist.

My career has also enabled me to work with various stakeholders in establishing complex infrastructures such as clinical documentation software, medication management, and other management processes, and including submitting feedback to the Australian Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety.

When I am not working, I enjoy long walks, having time with my family, praying with my prayer women at Mountain Climbers, and volunteering in my church and community. I have participated in many community projects and fundraising events in support of many courses dear to my heart. In 2017 and 2018, I also participated in the Melbourne marathon while raising money for Dementia Australia. In the recent past, I have volunteered as an Event Coordinator for Milele Girls 2021, a Kenyan Community Girls’ Rite of Passage. I am also the project manager for my daughter’s Elise Gitau’s community project and I have served as a committee member that helped establish her foundation, The Jaliwa foundation. The Jaliwa Foundation seek to encourages young people to take up leadership in their community. www.thejaliwafoundation.com
